I got a call from April at the hospital and the doctor said that he cultures should be back around 5 pm today and as long as it is clear of bacterial meningitis, he will be able to go home. YEAAA!
So Logan didn’t improve yesterday, and we called the pediatritian and went to see her. After examining Logan, she wanted him to go to the ER, mostly because of his raised/swollen soft spot. To make a long story short, after many tests, including being stuck 4 times with needs and a spinal tap, they determined he does have viral meningitis.
The Dr. tells us that this is the “better” of the two, the other being Baterial. They are about 95% sure it is viral. They are treating him by giving him some antibiotics and they have an IV in him giving him fluids. So, Logan is doing ok, and he should recover just fine. They are waiting on the labs to know for sure that it is viral. The labs take 48 hours to completely be done, so that will be tomorrow morning. If it turns out to be viral, we should be home tomorrow night as long as he is improving.
So, please pray that the virus gets taken care of and that his fever stays low as we wait. Also pray that he starts eating regularly again. In order to leave, he also needs to be eating well. We will keep you updated as much as possible.
