Baby’s First Christmas 2006

2005 LaGarde family Christmas picture
Well, yes we had a WONDERFUL Christmas. I can’t believe it last year I was pretty pregnant and we were talking about how this year we would have a little terror running around. Boy was that the truth…

I guess I should start at the beginning… Friday afternoon we went down to Chris’ brothers house for an early Christmas dinner with them (Richard, Joanna, Elisabeth and Thomas), Chris’ other brother and his fiance (Nick and Tatiana) came also and so did Chris’s parents. Instead of another Christmas meal we had spaghetti and the best sauce I have had in a long time.

We opened presents with them, it was fun, and Logan got the best present! He got a house from Elisabeth, Thomas, Rich and Joanna! He has not stopped playing with it since we set it up- He loves it! Logan also got a small elmo and an elmo book that makes sounds from Uncle Nick and Aunt Tatiana… He loves it also!
We had so much fun hanging out and visiting. We think it is the beginning of a LaGarde/ Trunnell tradition Christmas spaghetti.

Saturday we set up Logan’s new toy and did our last minute shopping. Sunday we went to church and then at night we had our yearly Christmas Eve party with my whole family! It is so fun, we hang out and eat ALOT then we sit down and try to sing christmas carols the key word here is TRY (no one in my family can sing) and to make matters worse we are singing to the most off key piano there could possibly be… wow it is bad- we need to record it some time for proof. As a child after the HORRIBLE singing we would then read Luke 2 and us kids would dress up and act out the scene being read. This was one of my most favorite past times, but since there isn’t any children in my family young enough anymore to be willing to do it- we don’t have the “play” anymore, but we still read Luke 2 and every year it becomes more and more powerful! This year we half missed it because we were putting Logan to bed, but, we could still hear my dad reading it and sitting in the dark with Chris and Logan knowing that the next day we were going to be celebrating our saviors birth made me so excited. I couldn’t believe how fast this past year went and already Christmas was upon us and I wasn’t ready to have Logan’s Christmas come and go. I felt really overwhelmed but at the same time a wonderful peace- tomorrow would be the day we celebrate Christ coming to earth as a child. Looking at Logan realizing that Jesus was as little as Logan once was a really cool thought!

That night we went home and of course finished wrapping presents. We were up until 2 in the morning. It is sort of fun being up that late now that we are “adults”. The next morning is the problem.

Logan woke us up around 9 am and I went in and got him out of bed, and brought him in a we played in our bed for a few minutes then we went down stairs and started the festivities.

We had so many presents for Logan it was unbelievable… He of course didn’t understand and he loves paper so… yes he would rip a strip of paper off the present and then proceed to put it in his mouth so we would take it away and then he would rip another strip off and we would take it- this went on over and over until the package was unwrapped- it took FOREVER to unwrap all of his gifts.

Once we finished and had breakfast, got showers and dressed and ready to go we headed out to my family for christmas. If any of you know my family then you know this is a yearly thing- we say we are going to eat at 1 and we end up eating at 2- it was maybe even 2:30… Once we ate we had to RUN out to Chris’ family for gifts and another dinner.

When we got to the LaGardes we found out that Mr. LaGarde was sick with the 24 hour bug. Poor guy was so sick we didn’t even see him.

Logan got a walker (it looks like a car) that turns into a ride on toy. It makes all kinds of noise and plays songs- Logan is getting better and better at controlling it- in the beginning the toy would roll away and Logan would be hanging on to it running after it trying not to fall down. Now he has figured out how to make sure it doesn’t go to fast and he can stop himself before he gets to a wall =)

Logan also got a raccoon hat from Pop Pop it is a little big but we think it is sooo funny! He looks adorable in it.

Once we finished opening presents we went to the Lloyds for Christmas dinner- it was so wonderful- we watched the game, we had the most delicious food EVER, we had great fellowship- what more could anyone want. Well, we missed Pop Pop, but I guess that is it!

Logan hit a wall around 8 or so and so we decided to leave- he fell asleep in the car and so when we got home, we decided to head back out to my family’s to exchange our gifts out there.

here is a picture of my uncle he is always falling asleep =)
Logan once again made out like a bandit- he woke up after we were there a few minutes and although he was tired was very well behaved, we helped him open all of his gifts, and then when we were done there we tried to play a game, but it didn’t work so we left and went up to my parents and exchanged more gifts!

Logan again got so much stuff- he got a backyardigans pirate ship for the bath tub, he got another walker, he got the cutest jean jacket that has fir on the collar from my brother, he got a kids cell phone and keys, he even got a blow up spider man =), all that along with many many other things!

Once we did that Logan poor thing, hit another wall and we had to head home.

Thanks everyone for making our first Christmas with Logan a SPECIAL one!
