Boy or Girl???

Well, Today at 2:30- we have our 20 week ultra sound…  We are going to find out what we are having and hopefully see a healthy baby!

Please pray that everything goes well, and that the ultra sound will show no problems with the baby! Thank you all for loving and caring about us- we will write and let you know what we are going to have- hopefully tonight…

So far the guesses for boy or girl are 50/50 so we will find out who guessed correctly in a few hours! I (April) am guessing girl, but I am hoping boy ;) Chris won’t make a guess, I think he doesn’t care either way ;)

WWII – Day Two

We have been extremely blessed on this trip – the weather literally could not have been better. It has been clear skys, in the 70′s with a breeze. Saturday was no exception. We headed out around 7:30 am and had breakfast at Sierra Gold. This picture is reminiscent of the picture we took on the first day of WWI.

Today we were headed out to Lake Tahoe to do some hiking around the lake. Jay rode his bike up to Lake Tahoe, and Dad, Norm, Nick and I followed in Norms car. The ride as about an hour or so up to the hiking trails. We were going to hike the “Rubicon” trail, but like the air races, it was closed. Fortunately there were plenty of other trails to be hiked. We ended up hiking down to Emerald Bay, which is one of the most picturesque bays of the lake. From there we did a 1.5 mile hike up to Eagle Lake which gave us some very dramatic views.

The water up in Lake Tahoe is incredible, not to mention the lake itself is incredible. It’s about 12 miles wide and 22 miles long, and is at the elevation of
6200 feet. Here is some more info on the lake, for those who care to read: Lake Tahoe.

There was a dog that was going up with a father and his two kids. It was a young german pointer, and boy, did that dog have some energy. It was really impressive. He would run up a couple hundreds yards ahead of the family, up some steep terrain, and then run back down like a missile. He must of been young, because he had so much energy.

Once we reached Eagle Lake, we came back and headed back home. On the way we stopped at a local place for lunch called the Bridgetender, which was right at Tahoe City, where the Truckee River begins. The Truckee river is the only outlet for Lake Tahoe. The food was good and we watched a little baseball and then headed home. From there we had a leisurely afternoon at Jay’s place. That ends day two of WWII

WWII – Day one

Two years ago, myself (chris), my Dad, my brother Nick met up with my Dad’s best friend Norm Galvin and his son for our first “Weeny Welding” trip to the Grand Canyon. Earlier this year, we decided it was time for WWII, Weeny Welding II, and this time, we were going out to Reno Nevada for the Reno Air Races, and do some hiking around Lake Tahoe.

So yesterady my dad, brother and I flew out to Reno yesterday, and met up with Norm, his son Jay again. It was a long day of travel, and after arriving at Jay’s house, he and his wife made us a wonderful spagetti and meat ball dinner – THANK YOU JAY AND MELANIE! – then we went to bed.

This morning we got up and went to the air races. Already there had been two deaths the two days before so we were interested to see what happens today. We had pit passes, so we were able to go down and see a bunch of really cool planes, the ones that were racing. We heard some of the planes racing, so we decided to watch a bit. Just as we were walking up to the line where we could see, we noticed some dust and smoke a bit in the distance. Turns out that there was another crash. Later we found out that another person had died, when two planes collided and one man was killed instantly and the other was able to land his plane with non-fatal injuries.

The races were canceled for the rest of the day, which was a bummer, but there was still some really cool exhibitions. We saw several trickster planes, and also the Canadian Snowbird team perform, which is the Canadian version of the Thunderbirds. My favorite part was when an F-16 was putting on a show. Man, that engine is incredible and LOUD.

Anyway, check out the photo’s that I posted. More coming tomorrow.
