Grayson’s Birth: Day 3

As I write this it is 1:12 on Thursday – we are now home with no real incidents – Logan is playing with a bunch of new toys that April got at GW and Grayson is getting lunch. It seems like such a blur – Grayson’s changing every day and we can’t believe how big Logan is. He seems like an even bigger boy now that we have a teeny weeny to compare him to.

Day 3 was more of the same – Grayson got even better at nursing and we had more visitors. I believe that brought the visitors to a total of 22 or so visitors which includes family and I am sure that we are going to get more visitors now that we are at home. Thank you to all who visited! It actually got somewhat boring at the hospital, especially for April when I wasn’t there. For the record, those that visited us included – Both sets of parents, Mike, Renee, Christy, Carolyn Hunt, Missy O’malley, Jen Mclaughlin, Aaron & Kristen Windle, Julie Riggs, Dan & Erin Lopez, Jamie Myers, James & Jen Phipps, Jess Harlan, Melissa Purtell, Aunt Diane and Luke Windle.

Grayson was very alert at several points during the day and it was very neat to see him looking around, trying to figure the world out. He would just lay there in my hands and move his eyes back and forth, sometimes following the camera that I was waving back and forth. Also, when he cries, it sounds like a squeek, it is so cute. His eyes make him look like an angry old man sometimes. Again, it’s cute.

Another exciting thing was that Jen phipps, who is coordinating meals for us, sent out an email asking people to bring us meals and with in a small amount of time, the list was full. We have meals for the next 3 weeks! It’s so amazing how blessed we are to have people that want to bless us and help us. We do want to say that if you are bringing a meal, or just want to come visit, please do! Just email or call us and let us know, we would love to have you!

Lastly for this post, Logan has been doing really well so far with Grayson. At one point last night we had Logan sit with April and put Grayson in his lap, sort of and he seemed to be very interested. He gave Gray a kiss again (after we prompted him to). Also when Grayson would cry, he seemed genuinly concerned. So, hopefully, this transition will go smoothly.

Logan & Grayson at birth

So I said i was going to “compare” the two boys, but that isn’t the right word. Each one is his own unique person, and that is what I want to show. It is so beautiful how God make each one of us completely unique. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. Logan will be on the left, Grayson on the right:

There are some definite differences, but they are definitely different. One factor is that Grayson weighs two pounds more, so he has a lot more pudge, but they both have some very similar faces. I think Grayson has more of a “Boyes” nose, where Logan has a “LaGarde” nose.

What do you think?

Grayson’s Birth: Day 2

I think today could be easily summarized with these words, in order: Sleep, circumcision, sleep, visitors, more sleep. It was a very relaxing day overall, filled with little drama.
As parents of boys, we have to make that all important decision – to snip or not to snip – we choose snip. So early this morning, the Dr.s took care of that. Grayson was not too happy, needless to say. They had given him tylenol to help with the pain but the side effect of that was big time sleep. We could not even wake him up to feed him, but that is all normal.

April is doing very well today. The nurses had her get up and walk around today, get a shower and all that good stuff. I am so proud of her! She takes it all so well! I know I would be whining and complaining, I am sure, but not her. It is definitely part of her purpose her on earth – to be a mom. She is so good at it. Logan, now Grayson and I are so very blessed to have her put up with us!

We had more visitors later in the day, around 6:30 or so, all family, and Logan came a long with April’s Parents, who watched him today. Again, he didn’t seem to know what was going on at all or how his world has already changed. We love him so much and can’t wait to see how he grows into his role as the big brother.

Anyway, another great thing to report today is that Grayson seems to be taking to breast feeding very well. At the end of the day, he did very well with it and April is really excited. Logan did not do well at all with it, which we figure was due to his “skinny-ness”, but who knows. Luckily, Grayson seems to be doing a lot better.

In my next post, I am going to post photos of Logan and Grayson side by side. it is VERY interesting to see how they are similar in some ways, but sooo different in others.
