Some Where Over The Rhine

Last Thursday, June 5th, April and I went up to Sellersville Pa to the Sellersville Theater to see our favorite band Over The Rhine. Aprils mom watched both our kids while we went, and for that we are extremely grateful! Anyway – the show was incredible! We got front row seats, and there was only a couple tables and chairs in front of us. The opening act for OTR was this guy, who I can’t remember his name, played the cello, strapped to him, kinda like a guitar, but not sideways and he was incredible. Really really amazing. The theater itself was also amazing – it is a really old theater that is well kept, and sounded so good.
Over the Rhine was amazing. Mostly the band is Karin Bergquist and Linford Detweiler – husband and wife duo – who write the songs lyrically and musically, but they brought an amazing bassist and drummer with them. Karins voice is really incredible. After watching the last two seasons of American Idol (we are losers i know), you can really spot an incredible talent and skill when you see it. Not only that but their music is just so captivating and honest. The album prior to their current one (which is “Trumpet Child”) was called “Drunkards Prayer” and was mostly the result of almost getting divorced, but they fought through issues and came out very strong, and the songs they wrote about it are very good.
They are what you would call “Christians” and while they are not a “Christian” music group, their music and lyrics really reflect God’s glory. I (Chris) call their music “Couple Music” because it is music that couples can listen to, both b/c it is romantic but also the lyrics.
Anyway, we both highly recommend their music!
