Our boys, the long awaited update…
Well, I have been very lazy lately (well, not as much lazy as insanely BUSY!!!) and haven’t been catching you up on what is going on with either kid, as I was so kindly reminded this week end by my brother in law, so here is what is going on with each of our boys lately…
Logan
He RUNS everywhere… He is a ball of energy, i just can’t seem to keep up… I let him out of the cart the other today in Walmart and he RAN ahead of me, and if he missed the isle I was going down he would RUN back and run right past me and keep on going… CRAZY!
Another day Logan was at the grocery store with me and I let him walk because I wanted to see how he would listen. He started out so WELL, then he started walking crouched down and all stealth like, and when I called to him to stop and come back he kept walking like that without even looking back as though he thought he was invisible- EVERYONE around us was laughing really hard and it was VERY difficult to keep a straight face when telling him he can’t walk away and not listen like that…
His speech is coming along nicely- we still can’t understand half of what he is staying but he is at least trying to talk now… He is doing much better at repeating us and he will actually try to ask for things. Our Speech therapist is wonderful and she seems to see improvement and that is promising… He still talks like Blue from Blues clues, but we can tell that what he is telling us is VERY important. What things he does say, he tends to whine- ICK “BOMBBeeeee” (translation- Mommeeeeeee) oh I HATE it- we are now using the phrase “Logan, I can’t hear you when you whine, please use a big boy voice” about a hundred times a day…How annoying… I knew I liked it when he didn’t talk
But then there are times when he will gibber gabber at me and then laugh like he just told a joke, and thought he was so funny, it is very humerous, you can’t help but laugh, and that makes the ringing in your ears from the whining go away, if only for a short time…
Logan is the easiest kid ever, we know this because Grayson seems to be the hardest child ever
He will play all by himself for hours, he is so content to play with his cars and trucks, he plays with his little action figures and makes them interact (who knows what they are saying to each other) then they politely say “good bye” and they walk away- its really funny to watch…
Logan is a HUGE water bug- as you could see in our last post… he has been in the pool any time we are close- my aunt bought a real kid floaty jet ski that has a propeller on it and Logan rode up and down the side of the pool on it, he knows how to steer it and make it run, it is so unbelievable… He is so SMART… On the subject of swimming- I have a goal to try to have him trained by the end of the summer to be able to float on is back or tread water on his own, that way he won’t make me as nervous around bodies of water. He fell in the other day with water wings on and didn’t move because I wanted to what he would do… he righted himself and just kept going- and now as you saw from out last post- Chris is throwing him and is kicking and I think he will be swimming on his own by the end of the summer.
I can’t believe how fast he is growing up- it seems like just yesterday he was learning how to roll over and now he is a VERY active 2 year old…
Grayson
Gray is 5 months now and it seems soon he will be just as active as his brother- he is rolling over and trying to sit up- he watches Logan like a hawk and I am sure he wants to be moving around like Logan does… I can tell already he is going to be that annoying little tag along brother who HAS to be doing everything his older brother is doing- Poor Logan
For the first 4-5 months of his life Grayson has suffered from gas- his digestive tract and mommies eating habits were not working together- we are just now figuring things out- No Broccoli for me and 2 ounces of prune juice daily for Grayson… He has been a much happier camper and that makes mommy (and daddy and Logan) much happier too….
Grayson doesn’t seem to mind the water but I don’t think he likes it nearly as much as Logan does- maybe he got more of me than his daddy in him… He is finicky though he doesn’t like to be too hot or too cold, so if he is hot he likes the cold water if he isn’t he doesn’t like the cold at all- he is a hard one to figure out- but that being said, I feel like we are FINALLY figuring him out- we were with family this past weekend and we were explaining how to do things- and on the way home I commented to Chris how it is both good and bad that we know our kids more than anyone else… Its so nice to know what they need and when and how.. but not nice because we shouldn’t be the only ones who can actually do it ![]()
He is beyond cute if I do say so myself, that is when he isn’t screaming in pain… He is all smiles and loves to be thrown up in the air and caught and if you are paying special attention to him, you will be rewarded with a “special just for you, for paying special attention to me” grin
He gets so excited when you are holding him- he will grab at your face, and your hair and pull you to him and try to give you kisses which really consists of him sucking on your chin or slobbering all over your face (as shown in the picture above- where he attacked my poor, unsuspecting, sister Renee)
but its his way of saying he cares
He loves his feet – as soon as you lay him down his feet go up in the air and and he tries to grab them and stick them in his mouth- he is now gabbing at everything- we have a floor play gym that he will lay under and grab at the animals- he does really well his eye hand coordination is getting better and better every day… and his hand mouth coordination is getting better too- everything goes in the mouth- JUST LIKE HIS BROTHER
It seems that they are alike in more than that way, Grayson just like Logan loves the jumperoo and baby einstein- he will jump and jump and watch the animals on the screen and he loves it! We have had many MANY people tell us how much he looks like Logan- we agree but we see differences also… Gray LOVES To be swaddled and we finally figured out a way to keep him from getting his hands out- we have to wrap him in a swaddling blanket first then put a swaddle me over it- FINALLY our escape artest is stuck and that means he is now putting himself to sleep- he is taking nice long naps, he is sleeping GREAT through the night- PHEW I feel like the hard “baby” part is coming to an end….
He just started eating cereal, he doesn’t like the rice cereal, but seems to like the oatmeal so he is gobbling that up- we tried a puff today but he made faces silly boy… so that might have to wait… He LOVES to actually sit at the table in our chair that attaches to the table and eat- or he’ll just sit there while we eat and play with his chewy rings- he is such a social bug it is really cute to see his personality coming out…
I can’t believe how much we love him, and how much our family was missing before he came along- it’s a sad reality how little blog time he has gotten since he came along- yes WAY less than Logan, but that isn’t because we don’t love him, it’s that we are more busy with two and to be honest- a 2 year old is doing so much more than a 5 month old- POOR Neglected Grayson… they say the youngest one gets the shaft- at least Gray isn’t the youngest- that poor child won’t be getting any blog time at all EVER ![]()
So, I’ll leave you with this, very adorable picture of our boys- hopefully this is a picture of the way things will be
