LaGarde update-Logan
I know we have been slacking lately- Chris of course has been posting things here and there keeping you somewhat updated but otherwise you are in the dark as to what has been going on in our lives…

We know this should be our Christmas card post we are VERY delayed in that and we are still in the process of writing / tweaking it.. SO sorry for the delay… until we get it maybe you would like to read our latest update about our children 
Because we know you are actually here to hear about them and see pictures… we know we (Chris and April) are unimportant

Although, we pass this web site off as us keeping you informed of what we are up to- it is also a way for us to remember what we did and it is fun to look back and post of the last few years… SO thinking about that I thought I should give you an update on Grayson and Logan since they have both grown and changed since the last “update” and in saying that it seems to make it better that we are bragging about them so much but if we can’t brag about our kids on our own blog then where can we right????
Just a warning this is going to be long…
Since it is so long I made this post only about Logan and I will post the next one about Grayson in a few days…

Logan
Big Brother Logan is starting to take on the roll of big brother- for so many months we talked about how Logan just ignored Grayson, well once Grayson started to crawl Logan sort of woke up to the “new” critter in the house and now that Grayson is walking its even more funny to watch… Grayson will come over and get into Logans play area and Logan will get so upset- he will push him over he uses his bottom to bump Gray out of the way and Grayson will either get upset and cry or he thinks its great because Logan is FINALLY giving him some attention… This is not to say that they don’t play nice sometimes Logan will try to play with Grayson but he doesn’t quite know how so he will try to hug him or push him around or even pull him like he was doing on the Christmas video… Grayson thinks its SO great… The other day I look over and Logan had Grayson in a head lock trying to play with him- I started telling him to let Grayson go before he hurt him, but to my astonishment Grayson had a HUGE smile on his face and was laughing thinking it was all so great his big brother was playing with him… too weird I guess I will never truly understand boys

Logan is getting better and better with his speech, he seems to be catching on and understand the importance of using words to communicate- we are understanding him 100 times better than this time last year and he is actually starting to seem like a 2years and 9 months (can you believe he will be 3 in March!!!!)… He is now trying to say the “s” sound but he is using the “th” sound instead… its too cute.. Instead of asking for Juice- he asks for “guth”… He started talking much more and way more clearly around Thanksgiving when his genius speech therapist suggested putting all of his toys away and making him ask for them- she said that he had too many distractions so I did it that week and almost immediately we saw results- amazing!!! WE LOVE HER!!!
Logan and Grayson
When Logan was a baby he was Very serious- he hardly ever cried or whined he was a SUPER baby!!! but he also didn’t seem to smile much either- he was just plain serious… Back then I thought “oh no what do we do with such a serious child”, but as the last year has gone on he has gotten more and more smilie, and now he is the smiliest child ever.. He loves to laugh and play almost anything can make him smile or giggle… he loves to dance and sing… He is ALL boy… and his smile can light up a room- he has the cutest laugh and you would do almost anything to hear it and keep him laughing – its crazy the things you do do to keep him laughing… He is so funny the other day Chris was doing something funny and Logan thought it was soo hilarious that he was laughing so hard and then all of a sudden he put his hands over his mouth- which made me laugh because where in the world did he learn that- it was like he was pretending to try no to laugh- tooo funny!!!

When Logan was young I pushed him to watch Veggie Tales, if he was going to watch TV I figured he should watch them because they were christian and they sang and danced they had good stories and I could stand watching them- he loved the silly songs and that is what we watched most… Once he started to get older he started to branch out and he started to of course LOVE elmo (who couldn’t love elmo, well if you are one that is ) even to this day he LOVES Elmo, from there he became obsessed with Blues Clues, and Word World, from there he started to like other kids shows… Today his favorite BY FAR is Diego… I don’t know if I have ever seen a kid so obsessed with something.. for a while there he loved the movie CARS and that was fun but that got old pretty fast, but let me tell you I would take CARS any day over Diego… ALL DAY EVERY DAY I hear “Mommy, Deego?” – or- “DEEGO MOMMY???” sometimes he is so stinkin cute he will take my hand and drag me over to the TV and sit up on the couch pull the blanket down and put it over his legs and say : “deego” … I would say I can resist his charm more than half the time… I am working my way up to all the time and the more I watch the same Diego movies over and over the more often I will say “NO” !!!! Luckily we got two new Diego movies for Christmas so we have 3 DVD’s with a Grand total of 11 stories… Thank the Lord for diversity… His other favorite movies that I can sneak in there here and there are: Ice Age 1 &2, CARS (as I mentioned earlier), Happy Feet (he thinks its so funny when the baby mumbo can’t sing he laughs and laughs), occasionally he will request Blues Clues, Elmo, or my favorite Backyardigans, and he still likes to watch Barney and Word World, and he also likes Boz…
I know I sound like a horrible mother who lets her kids watch TV all day long, but that isn’t true we do a ton of fun things- in the summer we go to the pool a lot but in the winter we do a lot of playing, Logan loves to play with cars so if you want to interact with him you have to play cars with him he loves his train table down stairs and could play for hours down there… He loves to throw the ball and he loves all kinds of art projects- we are really into play dough at the moment, usually I contain him to his seat at the table to play play dough, but the other day Chris let him have the play dough and walk around, a few minutes later Chris was holding Grayson and Logan started pulling on Graysons diaper, then he started trying to take it off- and we kept saying “Logan what are you doing???” Finally Chris looked in Graysons diaper, it looked like he had pooped so we thought- Cute Logan wants to change Graysons dirty diaper- weird…. NO NO that wasn’t it at all… Logan had put his black play dough down Grays diaper, and it looked like poop… HOW FUNNY IS THAT we got a huge laugh out of it…

Logan got a TON of new toys to play with for Christmas and his favorites are the CARS Helicopter he got from Dammah and Pop pop, and the cars cars he got from Aunt Renee and Aunt Diane.. Grayson is not allowed to touch these items… He also loves his new Diego action figure from Aunt Renee… Daddy and Logan seem to come up with a new game every day… its crazy the things they do- tonight Chris was sitting on the couch and Logan would run up and Chris would just push him away and Logan would fall back and bounce on the couch- no lie they did that for a least an hour with out stopping- Grayson gets in on it too if he is lucky Last night Chris “taught” Logan how to through popcorn up in the air and catch it in his mouth- Logan thought it was so great that he started trying to copy him so he would take a piece of pop corn and pretend to throw it up and then just pop it in his mouth- we would cheer and laugh and that kept him occupied for a good 10 minutes until Chris decided to show Logan how he could throw a piece of popcorn under his leg and up into the air and into his mouth- THAN Logan had to try… So for the next 20 minutes Chris and I watched while Logan stood in the kitchen and JUMPED up and popped a piece of pop corn into his mouth- we cheered and applauded and cheered and applauded and did I mention I cheered and applauded… and then our little character of a son took a bow and said “thank you… Thank you very much” How funny is that… who knows where he got it from but it made us howl… so from then on he bowed and said “thank you thank you very much….”
As with most 2 year olds Logan has learned the word NO and uses it alot- we are trying to break him of it- he actually seems to like the word so much he uses it for yes too there are times I know he wants something and I will ask him if he wants it and he will say no- I’ll ask him again and again he will say no- sometimes I have to ask him multiple times and then tell him he has to say “yes”… Its too funny…

Logan is in his Daddy phase- he LOVES LOVES LOVES his daddy- no he doesn’t wait by the door until daddy comes home from work, I am sure that is to come, but if he could have a choice of who he would want to be with 100% of the time it would be his daddy… Its TOO cute… Chris, I think, loves this, he is now taking Logan along for the ride on fun little outings that are mostly boring errands but together they become an adventure… When Chris is home he can’t go anywhere without Logan- today Chris came home from work and went up stairs to change and both boys started crying huge crocodile tears… what a tease that daddy is… Every night after dinner Chris takes the boys and they get rowdy either running around wrestling or what I told you earlier throwing the kids onto the couch… Lots of times daddy becomes the horsey… usually Chris will put one of them on his shoulders and run around the house… the other child usually laughs and laughs as the other one is holding on for dear life… I just smile and pray that no heads get broken open, and that we would be able to keep away from the ER one more night, now that i have said this, we, I am sure, will be bound for the hospital some time soon Logan seems to be at the age where the rougher you are with him the better… He LOVES it when Chris pushes him or throws him or does all that boy stuff with him… He is defiantly a boy… He LOVES to do flips, we defiantly need to get him a trampoline… For now he just walks up daddy and then flips over- my siblings and I did that to my grandfather, as children, it was so much fun, so I can see the appeal… Sometimes Chris will lift him up and put him standing on his shoulders and Logan will count down- 3…2…1.. blast off and Chris will FLIP him over his head and land him on his feet, Logan lands laughing and smiling the huge smile that no one can resist… and of course wants to do it again and again until EVERYONE is tired and sore…
Logan and Daggy – Bestest buddies
We FINALLY moved Logan to a BIG BOY Bed back in September or October, sad that it took until he was almost 3 to make us move him to a big bed, but he was soo good in his crib that we figured “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” – we thought we would wait until he started crawling out of his crib to take him out of it all together, but he was so content up there in his crib that he never crawled out … So we took one side off his crib and now he is HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY in his big boy bed- he does great, there are some mornings we find him standing at his door with the door wide open just waiting for us- sometimes we don’t even know he was awake cause he is so quiet… He cracks me up… Finally Chris had to tell him that when he was awake from a nap or in the morning that he needed to yell to us and say “Mommy Daddy come get me” so this morning for the first time ever I hear “Daddy come get me” in a very low voice- it made me smile and I had to go get him… Soon I know that will come back to haunt us Don’t get me wrong there are times when I wish he was in his crib again… The other day Logan so VERY much didn’t want to nap and he was upstairs for at least 2 hours talking and I caught him walking around his room picking up books, he started kicking his wall and he woke Grayson up multiple times and it took a lot that day to get Grayson down, I was so angry that I walked up there with a wooden spoon and said “If I hear one more peep or have to come up here one more time I will spank you so hard you will be crying for a week” – It was the meanest I have been in a long time… He cried and cried for 5 minutes and then miracle of miracles he fell asleep for the longest nap he has taken in a long time

Logan is starting to be lovie with me, once in a while he will walk over and just give me a big hug, I am always asking him to give me a kiss and he always does ( this will not last forever so I am holding on to it now while he is still willing ) He is so cute when he is being disciplined, he will try to manipulate me, he’ll put his hands on my face and stroke my cheek as though that will change my mind, it most certainly softens my heart, but as a good mother I have to follow through with the punishment, even though it is hard sometimes… Lots of times when he gets in trouble he will give me a huge hug and cry, he looks so pitiful, but at least then I know he knows he did something wrong… It of course never works !!! (hehe) ok, once in a while I will give him a lesser punishment then what he should have had… but most of the time I tell myself that I have to follow though or he will end up being the bratty kid no one likes

On the other side of things- there are some things that never change… Logan is kind hearted and compassionate, he is growing like a weed and he is still as skinny as ever… He still LOVES his fruit and veggies, he is still not a huge fan of meat but will eat some- mostly hot dog (if you can call that a meat) and chicken… Although on New years day he ate turkey, surprise surprise he actually ate something new- but I don’t count on him eating or trying again any time soon! He is still a night owl, like his mother, in fact, I am listening to him talk to himself right now and it is 10:45 pm and we put him to bed at 9pm… He is so content he is very good at entertaining himself… he can make anything a toy and is perfectly content to just hang out and play by himself or with someone else…

Logan bring joy to our lives… His little face brightens my day and makes me smile even when I am tired and don’t want to be a good mommy seeing my little two year olds face makes me LOVE being a mom and want to be the best I can be every day…. who wouldn’t love being the mommy of the cutest kids ever….
