Tubes for Grayson
look at that toothy grin… I love it!!! SOOO CUTE!
As most of you know today we went to the CHOP site in Exton and Grayson had tubes put in his ears… He has been having NON STOP ear infections, it seemed like we just couldn’t get rid of them… Everyother week at the Pediatricians office and then running to the pharmacy to get an antibiotic… NOT FUN!!!
And after doing it with Logan and having such great results we have been waiting for this day… Poor baby Grayson was always miserable and his nose was always green and running… It was sad for him and hard to explain that yes his nose was green but it was because his ears and there was VERY little chance of him spreading an ear infection… Plus we just looked like slobs all the time with snot all over ALL of us since Grayson didn’t seem to know how to keep it to himself
So, Logan slept over at my parents in my brothers room… And we got up at 6:30 am got ready woke Gray up around 7:15am, headed out the door in the pouring rain at 7:30 and got to the office at 7:55am… When we got there they had us check him in then dress him in the cutest little yellow hospital attire, and then we waited… we sat in the waiting room for about 10 minutes then they called us back to the middle room. This room isĀ where we see the Dr. and anesthesiologist, the nurses weight him and check his vitals, etc. We hang out and watch TV… When Logan was there we watched Dora the Explorer, today we watched Nemo… Eventually they give him some medicine to make him “happy” they call it “giggle medicine”… all it really does is make the babies doapy and more willing to leave their parents… I need some of this medicine for the kids in the nursery on Sunday mornings
ha ha (don’t tell my boss I said that
) the stuff works like magic!!! I watched as they took a little 3 year old boy out and he didn’t fuss at all, then they came for Gray and I thought “Oh no, here it goes, he’ll be the first one to throw a fit on this stuff…” to my surprise, off the nurse took him and I didn’t hear a peep out of him…
We went out to the waiting room again and MAYBE 10 minutes later they came and got us… It was so fast Chris went to the bathroom and grabbed a cup of coffee and they were calling us in… The nurse said he was out of the surgery and he did great and that he was still asleep and that she would let him sleep up to 30 minutes (don’t tell anyone we were hoping for 30 minutes:) ) it was only about 10- 15 minutes later and he woke up… We remembered that Logan woke up and moaned and groaned and was crying a lot, but I totally forgot about the nastiness that also comes… Its horrible… Grayson has a temper anyway but man it was CRAZY!!! He was thrashing around and screaming and crying and throwing a major fit for about 30 minutes, finally the nurse said she would let us go… (thank the LORD) and once in the car and headed down the road he was fine… We thought for sure he would fall asleep because she gave him extra drugs to help keep him comforable and she said they make them drowsey… NOPE wide awake… I thought “Oh no, another Logan”… They say that kids sleep a lot after having this surgery that the anesthesia stays in their system for 24 hours and that they are wobbly and out of sorts the rest of the day… I was counting on Logan naping when he had tubes put in, no such luck, he slept very little and was going, going, going that day it was crazy…
Gray stayed up the whole way to my parents to pick up Logan and then all the way to Dutchway where I wanted to get some lunch meant and cheese that was on sale… So since NONE of us had breakfast we decided to go grab something to eat in their restaurant there… Grayson ate 1 and a half pancakes and was SUPER good… he was happy happy happy… You wouldn’t even know an hour before he was throwing a HUGE fit… It was awesome!!!
After that we headed home here and Gray fell asleep in the car we brought him in and put him down and he slept from 11:30 to 2:45 and now I just put him down again at 5 pm… This has been an awesome day
LOVE IT!!! plus now hopefully we won’t have to deal with ear infections any more!!! Praise the Lord!!!
