Last Monday July 6th, 2009 Logan went in to get another set of tubes in his ears and his adenoids out… I thought so we can remember what happened I would document it all…
He was such a trooper… We needed to be a the CHOP Exton Surgery Center at 8:40 and we got there right on time… They check you in and check all of his information then they take you to the back room and you change them into a hospital outfit… Then you sit in the waiting room until they call you…

in the changing room before the surgery- isn’t he cute in the little blue hospital gown????
Once they call you, you go into a small room where they have three beds and 2 extra chairs to each bed so each parent has a seat… and a TV

Daddy and Logan watching Toy Story after they gave him the giggle juice…
They take their measurements and ask medical questions and then you sit and wait… after a few minutes they give the kids, what they call “giggle juice” , then we wait and watch TV… the giggle juice helps the kids calm down and go calmly into the OR with the nurse… we watched Toy Story 2 this time…

All of us… not a great picture but at least now I know I was there… we were all a little nervous can’t you tell…
Once they are ready for him they take him back and its funny ALL the kids go willingly its so easy no fighting no screaming or kicking or crying, just off they go… easy as pie (I got to tell you- I really need some of that giggle juice for my trips to the grocery store
)
Then we parents wait… when they are just getting tubes it is only 10 minutes tops till they are coming to get you… when its adenoids its a bit longer…
So we waited and waited, normally they come out and tell you that your child did well and they are in the recovery room and they will come get you in a min. but for some reason no one came to tell us that and FINALLY (after what seemed like forever) they came and got us and already Logan was waking up… Immediately Chris picked him up and rocked him and when they come out of it they cry and moan it is just so sad…

The nurse gave us all kinds of information and paperwork, and the Dr. came out and said everything went well that he had TONS of fluid in his ear and he was going to put him on an antibiotic, and that his adenoids were very big and that it was good we took them out, that this should help a lot
After about 20 minutes of Logan crying he fell back to sleep and then when he woke up he was a much happier camper… and then we were sent home- thank goodness I hate being there and so do the boys

look at that sweet little face, doesn’t it just want to make you cry… poor little guy!!!!
Logan was sore and grouchy/ groggy the whole day that day and has gotten progressively better… The worst part for all of us was getting him to take his medicine!!! It is apparently really sour and bitter and most kids won’t take it, for us, we almost had to sit on Logan to get him to take it… we mixed it in anything we could think of and nothing worked so when the nurse said we could do just Tylenol on Wednesday we went with that and have been having GREAT days since!!!
THANK YOU ALL for your prayers, thoughts and help we really appreciate it!!!
